How To Find Potential Ambassadors

So, how do you go about finding suitable people for your ambassador programme? This will take a bit of work and time, but the chances are you probably have a good idea already who your best customers are right?

But if you don't, here are some ideas:

Social searches - search your hashtags and mentions.
Look for top fans on FB
Current top customers
Application submissions - some people will find the page and submit an application without you contacting them
Send an email newsletter to announce the programme to your subscribers
Create social posts for your followers
Use a postcard in your deliveries

Are They A Good Match?

Once you've identified potential ambassadors you'll need to do a bit of homework. If you have strong brand values, you'll need to try and see if their values match. How do they present themselves? A quick trawl of their social media profiles should give you a good idea if you are happy to proceed with them.

What Next?

If they are a good match then the Community Manager (probably you 😉) will reach out via social:

“Hi [name], my name is [COMMUNITY MANAGER] and I represent [YOUR COMPANY]. I’m loving your content, and [something that relates to your product]. I think you’d be a perfect fit for our new ambassador program. I’d love to start a conversation with you about this if you’re interested? If you’d like to hear more please let me know your email address, and I’ll send you some information.”

If they reply, send them an email:

Greetings [name]

I’m emailing on behalf of the social team for [YOUR COMPANY].

We’ve recently launched our ambassador programme and we’d love for you to be one.

Attached to this email is some more information about the programme. If the guidelines included in this information deck work for you, we can move forward and write up a contract. Once we have that, we will go ahead and ship out our Ambassador box to get you started!
